Lay Low’s Q&A:

How did you get into writing?

Throughout high school, I was always really good at writing. Not really fitting in with a lot of my peers, both my grandfather and father inspired me to use writing as a means to escape and channel my energy into something productive and creative.

What’s your writing style?

My writing style speaks just as I do: straight and to the point, with a little bit of artistic and spiritual flair.

What makes you (creatively) different?

I love using astrology to analyze and connect different aspects of life. Using astrology in my musical writing has helped me to better understand artists’ personas, personalities, and their music.

What are you passionate about?

I am very passionate about my creativity, and being able to express myself the way I want. Music and writing has always been my way to do just that. I am always passionate about worldly justice, and achieving balance within all aspects of my life.

What do you aspire to create?

I aspire to create a magazine (or overall brand) that features everything I love: music, art, and spirituality.

What (or who) inspires you?

People who live life unapologetically, and without restraint; those who could care less about what others think of them; those who create based off of their feelings and truths, and no one else’s.

When will you know you’ve made it?

I will know I’ve made it when I can make a living off of my being and creative endeavors… when I can exist being myself… and getting paid for doing just that.

Advice to aspiring writers?

My advice to aspiring writers is to always be yourself. Do not be afraid to turn down opportunities that do not align with you… something bigger and better for your being will definitely be waiting for you.
